I wish I had written that. It's a lovely image: negative works well here.

When it comes to negative comparison, by the way: When do you think it works and does not? When should it be used?

James, thanks for reading. I think negatives work in a poem when you're trying to approach your subject obliquely. In a way, stating that something is not so in a poem convinces the reader of the opposite.
